The British tennis star earned the biggest success of his professional journey by rebounding from a lost first set to beat top-ranked player Carlos Alcaraz in three hard-fought sets in the early stage of the prestigious indoor tournament.

While he had before overcome Alcaraz on two separate matches, this win represents Norrie's initial success over a reigning world number one.

Norrie, positioned No 31, also ended Alcaraz's supreme run of nine finals in a row and 17 straight elite tournament wins, which marked the best series of results in the Spaniard's young career.
